About the wine
Rosso Vigliano is a straightforward, fresh and gastronomic Sangiovese, quite different from the powerful oaked red wines that are synonymous with the region. The wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation, before it is aged in concrete for 10 months prior to bottling without filtration or clarification. It is a subtle and classy wine; we enjoy it with food, lightly chilled.
About the maker
Paolo Marchionni was still a philosophy student when he embarked on his winemaking journey with his brother Lorenzo. They set out to produce a simpler and less elaborate style of Tuscan wine, that spoke more clearly of its origins. Today they have 7 hectares of vineyards farmed organically since the outset, as well as 2,500 olive trees that they farm with the same commitment to produce their own extra-virgin olive oil.
